Take care of the air you breathe
Some interesting facts: we spend almost 90% of our time indoors, where the degree of air pollution is usually 2 to 5 times higher than outdoors. Children are particularly susceptible to the effects of air quality on health, because their immune and nervous systems are continuing to develop. To protect our children’s health, it is essential to reduce their exposure to chemicals and substances at home and at school, as well as in any indoor environment. Children exposed to a strong emission of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) are four times more at risk of suffering from asthma than other children. In addition, over the past ten years, the number of children aged five with asthma increased by 160%.
To make sure that the indoor air you breathe is healthy, choose materials and products that emit the lowest possible amount of pollutants. In this regard, GREENGUARD certified products were assessed by an independent third party that confirmed that they are free of more than 10,000 chemical substances. In addition, quarterly and annual product reassessment is required.
All products with this certification appear in the Greenguard product guide, which can be accessed free of charge online.
All Mercier wood floors are certified Greenguard Gold, the highest certification on the market.
A uniquely transparent finish
The Mercier GENERATIONS finish has a clear and smooth surface, thus revealing all the natural beauty of the wood, while other manufacturing finishes may appear milky and textured.
Tests conducted on the Mercier GENERATIONS finish revealed superior performance to abrasion, due to our ten-layer finish application. Result: a finish that will retain its luster and its original beauty for years to come!
Easy-to-evaluate scratch resistance
In-store, you can test the abrasion resistance of the Mercier GENERATIONS finish by rubbing the surface of a slat using steel wool. The performance of the Mercier finish is proven and provides maximum resistance to abrasion. In practice, the finish resists any possible dirt extremely well and remains intact in high-traffic areas.
The antibacterial coating applied onto the surface of the Mercier GENERATIONS finish helps maintain excellent hygiene by reducing the risk of spreading germs and mould on the finish’s surface. Completely non-toxic, this special treatment adds an additional level of protection for hygienic and sanitary floors.
The anti-yellowing process consists of 2 different UV screens that protect the original colour of the floor from various light sources that could alter it:
- A UV screen against yellowing of the finish: this first screen prevents the finish from yellowing when exposed to natural or artificial lighting;
- A UV screen against yellowing of wood: the finish creates a protective barrier that delays yellowing of the natural wood and reduces the intensity of the colour change when the latter occurs.
